CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:
Yoga Level I: Hatha yoga based class where flowing postures married with breathwork offer a great stretch and deep relaxation. Open to all levels. Lots of explanations of postures and practices.
Yoga Level II: Vinyasa style yoga class paced a little quicker than level one. Comfort with postures such as Downward Facing Dog would be suitable.
Gentle Yoga : Specially designed practice for the mature body or those recovering from illness or injury. Can be enjoyed seated in a chair or in other supported ways. Ease stiffness in the joints, increase muscle strength, build bone mass and enjoy relaxation.
Beginner Friendly: A carefully paced class suitable for most bodies where additional explanations and assistance is offered. Great for experienced yogis wishing to enhance their grasp of the basics.
Core Power: A faster paced asana practice requiring some familiarity with yoga postures and sequencing. Be prepared to sweat. Works specifically on core awareness and strength.
Bliss Restorative Yoga: A very safe, welcoming all level class open to everyone. All the tools in the therapeutic yoga toolbox will be employed to bring balance to mind, body and spirit. Improve sleep, manage chronic disease and pain, reduce the impact of stress on your system. Highly recommended to prevent or alleviate almost all health concerns. Participants should be able to rest supported on the floor.
*Hatha Level One: A classical practice where postures are held patiently with a keen awareness of breath. Currently, this class is by donation to charity so a membership is not required to participate. The charity currently is "Right to Play", bringing organized sports to some of the world's poorest children.
Nia: A combination of yoga, martial arts and modern dance designed to free your energy and build circulation in the body. Excellent for releasing stress and finding more joy in your life.
Zumba: Ditch the workout and join our party! This high energy Latin dance based fitness class builds a real sweat. Easy to master choreography and lots of laughing leave you uplifted and confident that you have achieved a good cardio workout. Burns 500 - 1000 calories per hour.
Pilates: This is a precise muscular strengthening program focused on core muscles. Recommended for those who have generalized back, neck and shoulder pain as well as athletes who wish to cross train to improve performance. The class is careful and can be modified to suit all bodies except in the case of acute injury where there is significant fresh pain.
Yoga with Weights: Excellent for stabilizing joints and building bone mass. Clients should bring 2 - 3 pound hand weights and 1 pound ankle weights. Class is open to all levels, although some yoga experience is suggested.
Meditation/Study Group: A chance to explore the lesser known aspects of yoga practice including devotional chanting, spiritual study, various methods of meditation and yoga philosophy. Open up to the next step in your practice. Interactive and welcoming to all. Discover how the ancient wisdom can provide modern day answers.
This schedule is in effect from Sept 13 to Dec 18, 2010. Please note that the studio will be closed on Saturday October 9 and Monday October 11 for the holiday weekend.
Classes are regular drop in classes. Registration is on going. No advance notice or registration is required. Your first trial class is complimentary. To continue classes, you may wish to purchase a ten class pass for $98 or pay a drop in fee each class of $13. The class pass is applicable to any drop in class and does not expire. For those who want to attend frequently, an unlimited monthly pass at $52 would be your best option. All prices include HST.
